Women Empowered Workshop
Event Date: Thursday, October 10, 2019 - 8:15am to 12:45pm Event Details: Women Empowered (WE) offers college fairs, workshops, and ongoing services providing women the resources to make choices in furthering their education.
At the October 10, 2019 workshops, you will:
- Hear women's success stories
- Learn about financial aid and financial literacy
- Visit with representatives of colleges at their booths
- Take a career assessment
- Enjoy a light meal

Adventures in Food Writing Workshop
Event Date: Thursday, October 3, 2019 - 7:00pm to 9:00pm Event Details:
In this seminar/writing workshop hybrid, you: will learn the principles of drafting restaurant reviews; read and discuss essays, stories, and poems about food; create and share with your peers multiple, short written projects; and compose a final written work (approx. 7-15 pages) in the genres of your choosing (e.g., restaurant review, essay, story, poetry, etc.). As you write about food and discuss it with your classmates, you will also be asked to examine the role food plays in your personal, political, and social lives, and to contemplate how writing about food can do more than simply describe the way it tastes.
Instructor: Eric Howerton has a background in creative writing and nearly 15 years of food writing credentials. He teaches writing and literature at OSU.
- Dates: Thursdays, 7-9 p.m. for five weeks starting October 3
