In this seminar/writing workshop hybrid, you: will learn the principles of drafting restaurant reviews; read and discuss essays, stories, and poems about food; create and share with your peers multiple, short written projects; and compose a final written work (approx. 7-15 pages) in the genres of your choosing (e.g., restaurant review, essay, story, poetry, etc.). As you write about food and discuss it with your classmates, you will also be asked to examine the role food plays in your personal, political, and social lives, and to contemplate how writing about food can do more than simply describe the way it tastes.
