Fundamentals of Screenwriting

Learn the basic elements of writing for the screen, including proper structure and format and how to explain your story to others in clear and concise language

Instructor: Laurie Thomas works in documentary and narrative film. In 2017, her short documentary Black Girl Magic was nominated for a National Magazine Award. She is producer of the short dark comedy, Everybody Dies! Licensed for HBO’s Random Acts of Flyness. Her short drama Prima Donna won the 2012 Grand Jury Prize for Best Short Film at the Florida Film Festival and qualified for the 2013 Academy Award’s Best Live Action Short Film category. Her work has appeared on Essence, MTV, Huffington Post and Fusion.
