Abstract:
This presentation will describe GE’s view on the state of the art in the field of sensing systems, particularly as relates to photonicbased sensing, and the future directions of the field. It will also tie this work to the broader view of industrial sensing in the context of industrial IoT. An overview of GE’s history in photonics technologies will first be given, along with current research activities in the space. A discussion on the philosophy of Sensing Systems and their impact on key performance parameters at the system level will be elucidated. Examples of developments at the component level will then be provide,
followed by application examples. Specific applications that will be discussed include the development of drone-based sensing systems, and the development of distributed optical sensing systems that leverage Si photonics technologies for improved SWaP and cost along with the ability to integrate multiple parameters in a compact system.
The presentation will also provide an overview in advanced nanotechnology concepts for photovoltaics, which are of relevance not only to sensing systems, but also to broader power generation applications.

Intro to Memoir (Online Workshop)
Event Date: Monday, September 28, 2020 - 7:00pm to Tuesday, September 29, 2020 - 8:45pm Event Details: Mining your life for stories worth telling without writing a tell-all tome or tiptoeing into beating-a-dead horse territory is tough. David Tromblay will share the lessons he learned while writing his memoir As You Were (Dzanc Books 2021). Life is cyclic and often plays jump rope with Gustav Freytag's storytelling arc. In the workshop, we will collectively look at ways to recognize the cause, effect, and the aftermath of life's peccadilloes then boil it all down to use as a template for your novel-length memoir or flash essay(s). Most importantly, we will examine your story for the utmost compelling point of view to capture your intended audience.
Over the 5-weeks, plan to produce 20 pages of writing. Suggested accompanying reading: Mary Karr's The Art of The Memoir.
Instructor: David Tromblay
- Dates: Mondays, 7–9 p.m. for five weeks beginning Sept. 28

OSU-Tulsa Library Citation Manager Software Update - RefWorks to EndNote
Event Date: Wednesday, September 30, 2020 - 12:00am to 11:45pm Event Details: Important Update to OSU-Tulsa Library Citation Manager
The OSU-Tulsa library will be transitioning from the RefWorks citation manager to EndNote as their main citation manager effective September 30, 2020.
Library patrons that want to save any previous citations inside RefWorks will be required to log-in and transfer or save their current set of citations. All RefWorks accounts will become inactive after Sept. 30, 2020.
Need help saving your citations and making the software switch?
The library has created a step-by-step guide including video tutorials and options for retaining your citations.
For personalized help through Zoom, phone or e-mail consultations, contact Tom Thorisch at tulsa.libraryreference@okstate.edu, tulsa.okstate.edu/library/help or 918-594-8146.
This decision will better align with the OSU Stillwater campus use of EndNote as their main citation manager for faculty and students. Other open software citation managers like Zotero, Mendley, and Noodletools can also be utilized as alternatives as well.
