The Art of Cinematic Lighting
March 4-5 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
In person workshop

This two-day workshop that introduces students to the basics of lighting a scene for a traditional narrative film production. Students will learn how to use gear found on professional sets, including a variety of lights, stands, and light modifiers as well as basic techniques used to achieve looks frequently utilized during the course of a film production. The workshop will be taught by veteran filmmakers using a blend of lecture and hands-on exercise.

About the instructors

Instructors: Charles Elmore and Jake Basnett

Charles Elmore is a filmmaker from Tulsa, OK. Based out of Oklahoma, Charles has been working in the film and video industry since 2000. He has worked in Television, Feature Films and Documentaries including MINARI (A24), HELL IN THE HEARTLAND (ID Network), Out Of Exile (Through Films), and Reservation Dogs (FX/Hulu). In addition to his work as a Director of Photography, he has received multiple Heartland Chapter Emmy awards for his work as an editor and producer for the television program Osiyo: Voices of the Cherokee People.
