Banned Book Week 2018

The OSU-Tulsa Library is celebrating Banned Books Week September 23-29. Come by the OSU-Tulsa Library and take a selfie with your favorite banned book! Check out our Censorship display and learn how censorship affects communities and disciplines around the world.
Banned Books Week was created by three organizations in the 1980s following an increase in challenges and the Island Trees School District v. Pico (1982) Supreme Court case. The American Booksellers Association invited Judith Krug, the director of the Office for Intellectual Freedom, and the National Association of College Stores to join the initiative for Banned Books Week to promote the freedom to read by raising awareness of books that have been banned or challenged.
