The seminar, “OSU-Tulsa: History of Our Land,” is for OSU-Tulsa Faculty and Staff.  In this seminar, participants will explore the history of the land that houses our current OSU-Tulsa Campus. Topics include Booker T. Washington High School, Standpipe Hill, Black Wall Street, Greenwood District and the Tulsa Race Massacre. Participants will gain knowledge about events that have created the culture and significance of our land and surrounding community. This seminar will be facilitated by Reuben Gant, Interim Executive Director, John Hope Franklin Center and OSU Alum.

About the Speaker-Reuben C. Gant  

Reuben C. Gant was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from Booker T. Washington Hight School. Mr. Gant attended Oklahoma State University, where he was a two sports letterman in football and basketball and earned All-American honors in football.  Drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the first round of the 1974 National Football League Draft, Mr. Gant spent seven years with the Bills; earning team offensive MVP honors in 1978.  Retiring from the NFL in 1981, Reuben spent a 17-year career in the cable television industry with Satellite Syndicated Systems, Inc. and United Video, Inc. in Tulsa as well as Post-Newsweek Stations, Inc. in Detroit, Michigan.  In 1997, Mr. Gant was recognized by his cable industry peers as an honoree in the National Association of Minorities in Cable (NAMIC) Hall of Fame.  Reuben returned to Tulsa to assume the position of Executive Director of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce in 1998. He was named President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce, General Manager of Greenwood Centre, LTD, and the Executive Director of the Greenwood Community Development Corporation in 2000.  In 2002, Mr. Gant was awarded Honorary Membership in the Golden Key International Honor Society by Oklahoma State University in recognition of his service and commitment to community development.  

Staff Enrollment Instructions for OSU-Tulsa – History of Our Land   

Courses will be offered via Zoom. You only need to enroll in one session. To enroll, click on the desired seminar session. Once the session appears, click the request button.  

Tulsa Campus faculty who wish to enroll in this course (or any others having difficulty enrolling) may email tulsa.hr@okstate.edu for registration if you are not able to use the login described below. Thank you!

Session 1: March 1, 2021 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 

Session 2: March 2, 2021 - 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. 

Session 3: March 5. 2021 - 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Enroll manually by completing the following steps:   

1.  Open an internet browser and type talent.okstate.edu and hit enter.    

2.  Enter your work email address and password.   

3.  Hover over the Learning tab at the top of the page and click on Events Calendar.   

4.  To the far left of the Calendar, there is a Location filter. Click the X so the location displays “All.” This will  

      show all training courses. Also, this must be done each time you enroll in course in order to see all offered 

      training courses.   

5.  Look through each month for course offerings and click on the desired training course link on the calendar.   

6.  Click on Request.   

7.  Follow steps 4-6 for each session.
