On the Page or On the Stage: Shaping Your Poetry Workshop
Rather than focusing on poetic forms, this workshop teaches the elements of poetry, how to create your own metaphors, the use of poetic devices to make your work more than stream of consciousness expression, and presentation. You will learn to sculpt your poetry for emotional impact, create detailed imagery or encourage your audience to think differently about the world around them with your words.
Instructor: Deborah Hunter is a poet, spoken word performance artist, and actor. She has led workshops and worked as a poet-in-residence in schools and community programs since 1997. She advocates for the homeless and those with mental illnesses.
