  • Increase receptivity.
  • Encourage innovation.
  • Confront the barriers to innovation.
  • Learn how to bring innovative ideas to market.

Using innovation success indicators, participants assess the "culture of innovation." Learn to practice the "Law of Receptivity." Accept your offers and advance the scene. Break through barriers and answer the questions, "How do I personally innovate?" "How important is my piece of the puzzle?"

Lunch provided. Registration for lunch is required.

Keynote Bio: Greg draws on 25 years of management and training experience to build content that is fresh, relevant and engaging for his audiences. His widely varied career includes university teaching, operations and executive management, corporate training, sales development, small business ownership and even elected municipal government.

From launching a successful niche startup retail business to managing a team of over 300 international trainers, Greg has seen what works — and what doesn’t. Whether resolving issues on the front lines or solving problems in the board room, Greg deftly blends intellect and humor to guide individuals and teams to new levels of success.

Finding and Managing your High Performance Zone

  • Develop a personal plan of action to locate and leverage the four elements of high performance.
  • Find your why.
  • Manage your value.

Develop an understanding of the four element of the High-Performance Zone (HPZ) – Perspective, Leadership, Capabilities and Resources. Discuss the levels of value and understand the choices we make daily. Participants will determine what they can personally do to create more value and personal satisfaction. A case study works through a fascinating scenario. Participants will use the four elements to solve the problem, increase effectiveness and drive greater satisfaction.

Conversations are at the core of our relationships, in work and in life. How we communicate can make or break a relationship, impact a situation, support or derail a project, or advance or jeopardize progress toward a goal—it truly is powerful. This session will explore the basis behind two books dedicated to help our conversations result in increased trust and success in all areas of our lives. The first is Crucial Conversation: Tools for Talking When Stakes are High by Patterson, Grenny, McMillan and Switzler. A New York Times best seller that brings us solid advice an processes for improving communication when it really matters most. The other is The Art of Woo by Shell & Moussa—which highlights how we can use persuasion to sell our ideas and accomplish more. Together these two books offer practical advice and application methods that can improve the important conversations in our lives.

 Presenter: Mary Sirkel, MHR

Mary is a Human Resource professional specializing in Organizational Development and Learning. She has over 20 years of experience working with all size firms, including Fidelity Investments, Williams Communication, The Persimmon Group, MRC Global, Rogers State University and now at Tulsa Community College. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology from Langston University and a Masters of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma. She is a certified Prosci Change Practitioner and Trainer among many other teaching certifications.

Conflict Resolution Strategies

  • Understand where your anger starts.
  • Overcome fear of conflict.
  • Use the proper response in each stressful situation.

Alter behavior immediately and change your work life. Learn what do when confronted with anger and responses that will move to agreement. Learn to facilitate disputes and work together to complete tasks with ease. Everybody feels anger (justifiable or not), learn what do in any tense situation.

The Paradox of Diversity and Inclusion

Almost every organization has a firm understanding of the importance of diversity. There is an abundance of research that confirms more diversity results in success.  Yet even with positive intentions, patterns of bias and oppression may continue to exist within organizations.  During this interactive and engaging session we will discuss where have we been, what are we doing now and what can we do next.  We will learn about the actions we can take to match our words. 
Course Objectives:

  • Attendees will have an understanding of how to accomplish diversity within teams to include multiple generations, cultures, genders, races, personalities, tenure, etc
  • Attendees will be able to identify the paradox of inclusion
  • Attendees will have a path to understanding the next step to eliminate the inclusion paradox
    • Reverse mentoring
    • Personality Differences
    • Cultural/Gender/Race Empathy
    • Worthwhile initiatives

Presenter: Charlotte Flood

In 1983 Charlotte Flood started at the ground level of St. John Health System in Tulsa, OK.   She spent the next 23 years moving up the ladder to Director of Business Operations and Information Technology for St. John’s physician groups including OMNI Medical Group, a 100+ multi-specialty physician group located throughout the Tulsa metro area. She then moved to Chief Operating Officer for Utica Park Clinic in Tulsa.  She is currently Administrator for Oklahoma State University Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Sciences Outpatient Services.  She is a professional speaker and coach for Exceptional Leaders Lab. She completed her Masters of Healthcare Administration at OSU and is currently working on her Doctorate of Health and Human Performance at Oklahoma State University.

Search “Actions Speak Louder” in the search bar from the LMS homepage.


Click on Learning > Events Calendar and make sure "Location" is set to "All" in the left column.

You must register for each individual session.

Attendees will be able to apply workshops toward their currently enrolled certificate program in conjunction with obtaining credit for this workshop day. The lunch/keynote speaker session counts as a workshop.

  • Attend one workshop + Action Plan (does not include the closing workshop) = $25
  • Attend two workshops + Action Plan (does not include the closing workshop) = $35
  • Attend three workshops + Action Plan (does not include the closing workshop) = $50
  • Attend all day (three workshops and closing) + Action Plan = $100

All action plans are due to Human Resources by 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8, 2017. If an employee is unable to obtain their manager’s signature on the action plan, they should submit their plan to HR with at least the employee’s signature. A training representative will follow up with the manager to obtain final signatures if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I enroll?

Enrollment for the conference and/or a workshop is done online using the Learning Management System (LMS).

  • Do Not use Internet Explorer. Use Google Chrome or Firefox.
  • Type into the address bar and Click “Enter” and use your O-key login to reach Campus landing page.
  • Search in top right search bar for "Actions Speak Louder.”
  • Register for the sessions you wish to attend.
  • Get your manager approval before you register.

Do I have to enroll in the Conference to attend a workshop?

Enrolling in any workshop automatically enrolls you in the Conference. 

Do I have to attend all day? Can I attend both days?

Some workshops will be repeated both days of the conference, while others will only occur once. Participants are not required to attend all day, nor are they expected to attend both days.

To receive the $100 incentive, a participant must attend the opening, two workshops and the closing session. While participants may attend as many workshops as they choose, only one incentive payment will be given for this conference and workshops only count toward one training program.

Do I have to sign up for lunch?

If you plan on attending lunch, yes.  You are automatically signed up for lunch when you register for the keynote. This way we have an accurate count to order food.

How do I write an Action Plan?

Each incentive option requires an Action Plan.  The template for the Action Plan can be found online.
