“¡Sí Se Puede!” event offers bilingual forum to answer college questions
Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is hosting a free virtual bilingual informational event, “Ir a la universidad - ¡Sí Se Puede!” on April 20 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. The event is tailored to Tulsa’s Hispanic community to answer questions and provide details about services, assistance and experiences related to attending college.
The online event, which is offered in Spanish and English, is aimed toward high school students and their families – but the information, advice and stories are relevant to anyone considering attending a university.
“A college degree opened so many doors of opportunity that I did not know existed,” said Moises Echeverria, president and CEO of the Foundation for Tulsa Schools and the moderator for this year’s event. Echeverria, an OSU-Tulsa alumnus, was the first in his family to earn a college degree. “I look forward to speaking with families and students about the importance of completing a college education and information I wish I would have known when I was a college student.”
The 2023 “¡Sí Se Puede!” event is comprised of three topics, including Hispanic students and graduates discussing their experiences, local Hispanic professionals speaking on how college has benefited them and a section where representatives from TCC and OSU share advice for the first steps in college enrollment.
OSU-Tulsa has been hosting “¡Sí Se Puede!” events since 2018.
