Dr. Claudia Maldonado-Otto moderates the ¡Sí Se Puede! conversation.

Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is hosting a free virtual bilingual informational event, “Ir a la universidad - ¡Sí Se Puede!” on Nov. 10 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. The event is tailored to Tulsa’s Hispanic community to answer questions and provide details about services, assistance and experiences related to attending college.

The online event, which is offered in Spanish, is aimed toward high school students and their families – but the information, advice and stories are relevant to anyone considering attending a university.

“I’m excited to bring together members of Tulsa’s Hispanic community who know the challenges that many face when it comes to higher education, including students who have gone through the process themselves,” said moderator Claudia Maldonado-Otto, a clinical assistant professor of teaching, learning and educational sciences at OSU-Tulsa. “We want Tulsans to know that a college education is within their grasp. You might not think you can achieve it, but we’re here to tell you: yes you can.”

Maldonado-Otto is also the faculty sponsor for the OSU-Tulsa Hispanic Student Association.

The 2021 “¡Sí Se Puede!” event is comprised of three panels, including a panel of Hispanic students and graduates discussing their experiences, a panel of local Hispanic professionals and a panel of representatives from TCC and OSU-Tulsa sharing advice for the first steps in college enrollment.

This is the third year OSU-Tulsa has hosted “¡Sí Se Puede!”
