OSU-Tulsa announces 2017 Minor and Hess award winners
Library technical assistant Jacob Wilson and executive assistant Karen Castle were recognized recently for their distinguished service to OSU-Tulsa students, faculty and staff.
Wilson is the 2017 recipient of the Max Minor Service Award. Named in memory of longtime OSU employee Max Minor, the award honors staff members who demonstrate exceptional commitment to OSU-Tulsa.
“As lead technician, Jacob finds materials from across the globe to assist students in their research,” said OSU-Tulsa Library Director Lynn Wallace. “His commitment and dedication to providing excellent customer service is one of the keys to keeping the library functioning at peak performance.”
Executive assistant Karen Castle is the 2017 recipient of the Roberta Joan Cothran Hess Staff Award in recognition of her outstanding work and dedication to ensuring the success of students, faculty and staff at OSU-Tulsa.
“Karen was selected to receive the Hess award because she doesn’t hesitate to help others, even when those tasks are outside her documented role,” said Dr. Ron Bussert, OSU-Tulsa vice president for administration and finance. “She is always positive and looks for ways to encourage others. She is great at boosting morale.”
Dr. James Hess, Ed.D., professor of health care administration at OSU Center for Health Sciences, established the award in memory of his mother.
