OSU-Tulsa Faculty recognized for outstanding teaching and research

Two Oklahoma State University-Tulsa faculty were honored for their outstanding contributions to teaching and research with the President’s Outstanding Faculty Awards, which were given out during the fall 2020 Welcome Back event.

Each faculty recipient receives a cash award and a medallion. They also will serve as Grand Marshals at OSU-Tulsa's spring 2021 graduation ceremony.

Dr. Tom Stone

Dr. Tom Stone, professor of management in the Spears School of Business, has earned the President’s Outstanding Research Award for his research excellence at OSU-Tulsa. The award recognizes a faculty member whose body of scholarship, collaboration and mentoring reflects a commitment to research at OSU-Tulsa.

Stone has been a Full Professor at OSU since 1989 and has served on the faculties of the University of Iowa, York University and McMaster University in Canada. His research interests include competency modeling, performance appraisal, academic integrity, leadership and decision-making.

Dr. Raj Basu

Dr. Raj Basu, associate professor of management in the Spears School of Business, has earned the President’s Outstanding Teaching Award for his dedication to OSU-Tulsa students. The award recognizes a faculty member who has made extraordinary efforts in his or her relationship with students.

Students have described Basu as an outstanding, engaging, and beloved professor who has had both immediate and long-term impact their learning. Not only is he a popular instructor, Basu is also the faculty advisor for OSU-Tulsa’s President’s Leadership Society.
