President's Leadership Society nearly doubles in size
In its second year as a student organization, the President’s Leadership Society at OSU-Tulsa has nearly doubled its size to 80 members.
The invitation-only group brings together students who have demonstrated academic and leadership excellence for networking, community engagement and professional development opportunities.
“The President’s Leadership Society was created to recruit outstanding students and provide them with the kinds of experiences that will enrich their academic life and future careers,” said Dr. Raj Basu, faculty advisor to PLS.
“We [want] to become ambassadors on campus to encourage and help guide other OSU-Tulsa students."
In addition to the group’s monthly meetings, where OSU alumni and Tulsa business and community leaders lead seminars on topics such as career development and professional etiquette, PLS members often spend time together outside the formal confines of the group. They socialize, study and work on community service projects.
“We really want to build a name and recognition for the group and be known to those on campus and those in the community,” said business student and founding PLS member Rachel Millea. “We also want to become ambassadors on campus to encourage and help guide other OSU-Tulsa students. We really want to define the role of PLS.”
