Dr. Susan Johnson has been named associate provost and associate vice president for academic affairs at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa. She has served as associate vice president for academic affairs since 2019.

“Dr. Johnson is integral to the development of OSU-Tulsa’s recent academic initiatives including the College Park partnership with Tulsa Community College and the OSU College of Professional Studies,” said OSU-Tulsa President Pamela Fry. “Her leadership in developing academic programs tailored to the needs of Tulsa and increasing access to higher education for all Tulsans has made a profound impact on our community and our university.”

Johnson serves as a strategy advisor to the president and vice provost, along with her duties as AVP for academic affairs. She is heavily involved with community engagement initiatives, including the OSU-Tulsa Campus-Neighborhood Collaborative.

In addition to her academic responsibilities, Johnson will also oversee the coordination of shared services between OSU-Tulsa and OSU-Stillwater and OSU Center for Health Sciences. These shared services, including facilities management, police, fiscal affairs, information technology and environmental compliance, have contributed significant cost savings and efficiencies to the university system.

Departments that continue to report to Johnson include Academic Advising, Undergraduate Admissions, Enrollment Services, Faculty Support Services, Library, Prospective Student Services, Scholarships and Financial Aid, and Student Services.

“We have made great strides in our mission to be Tulsa’s metropolitan, urban-serving research university,” Johnson said. “I look forward to continuing our enrollment growth, creating new academic programs for Tulsa and serving our community alongside this passionate and dedicated team.”

Johnson has an extensive background in academic admissions, advising and budgets. She earned her bachelor’s degree in business from Oklahoma Baptist University, her master’s degree in human relations from the University of Oklahoma and her doctorate in higher education from OSU.
