Undergraduates from across U.S. on campus for research fellowship

Ten college students from across the country have begun the Research Experience for Undergraduates program at the OSU-Tulsa Helmerich Research Center. The program ends July 28.

The program is a unique, hands-on opportunity for undergraduates to participate in cutting-edge research typically reserved for graduate students. Its focus is on entrepreneurship and commercialization.

This year's fellows are Andrew Granger, University of Louisiana at Lafayette; Ethan Reynolds, Missouri University of Science and Technology; Geremiah Charles, Arizona State University, Jeremy Schumacher, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology, Jordan Sosa, University of Tulsa, Leah McMillan, University of Arizona, Matthew Dieterle, Rowan University in New Jersey; Matthew Luebbe, Iowa State University; Tanner Burns, University of Arkansas; and Lynsey Baxter, Oklahoma State University.

Participants will conduct research in a variety of disciplines, including materials processing, energy storage and generation, biomaterials, combustion and aerospace.

The purpose of the research program is to introduce scholars to the transition of ideas from lab research to real-world applications. Scholars also will learn how to prepare for graduate school or careers and to interact professionally with local industry partners engaged in materials research.
