OSU-Tulsa to host public discussion on racial equity in higher education

Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is hosting a live virtual roundtable discussion on issues regarding racial equity in higher education in observance of The National Day of Racial Healing on Jan. 19, 2021. This discussion will be streamed live from 3 – 4 p.m. on OSU-Tulsa’s Facebook page.

Dr. Sheryl Tucker elected to board of directors for the Council of Graduate Schools

Oklahoma State University continues to be a leader in higher education with the election of Dr. Sheryl Tucker to the national board of directors for the Council of Graduate Schools.

Tucker currently serves as Oklahoma State University’s vice provost, OSU-Tulsa's vice provost and dean of the Graduate College and will now join the CGS board as one of 11 members tasked with shaping and advancing the future of graduate education nationally.

2020 OSU-Tulsa live virtual graduation ceremony fosters new ways to celebrate together

Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s live virtual graduation ceremony celebrating graduates from fall 2019, spring 2020, summer 2020 and fall 2020 is scheduled for Dec. 13, 2020 at 2 p.m.

The ceremony will feature live remarks from OSU-Tulsa President Pamela Fry and a live reading of graduate names.

Tulsa business CFO appointed to OSU-Tulsa Trustees

Michael Coonce, Chief Financial Officer at Titan Sports & Performance Center, has been appointed by Gov. Kevin Stitt to the Oklahoma State University-Tulsa Board of Trustees, who met for their first regularly scheduled meeting of the 2020-2021 school year on Tuesday.

Community Advancing Conversations: Campus leaders promote proactive efforts, inclusive mindset

OSU-Tulsa President Pamela Fry emphasized OSU-Tulsa's goals of increasing access to higher education and service to the community through efforts such as pre-collegiate conferences, public courses on the history of Black Wall Street and via the efforts of the Center for Family Resilience and the Al Carlozzi Center for Counseling at OSU-Tulsa.

“Not being racist isn’t enough,” Ken Eastman, dean of Spears School of Business, told a panel of Oklahoma State University deans and academic leaders Thursday. “We need to actively work to end racism.”

Longtime OSU-Tulsa adviser steps into new role as director of academic advising

Beverly Morris has been named Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s director of academic advising.

“I think in some ways I've been a leader on the team,” said Morris, an OSU-Tulsa adviser for the past 20 years. “I have just been here for a while and learned a lot. Now I’m trying to find a way to take that experience and do what we do better.”

Courtyard fountain named for President Emeritus Howard Barnett

OSU-Tulsa's courtyard fountain was named in honor of Howard Barnett, president emeritus, at an event on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Barnett stepped down as OSU-Tulsa's president in July 2019 after serving in the role for nearly a decade.
