As a child in Pakistan, Saqib Raza was known by his family for taking apart remote controlled toys and various household appliances to see how they work.
The problem was he never put them back together.
“That’s why I don’t have any toys from my childhood,” he says with a chuckle.

On March 7, Dr. Raman Singh, Associate Dean in the College of Engineering, Architecture and Technology at Oklahoma State University-Tulsa, presented testimony to the United States Congress House Energy Sub-committee on the continued safe and sustainable development of oil and gas resources and the energy–water nexus. Among other things, he highlighted his ongoing research, OSU’s efforts in leading a multi-university consortium, and support by the Oklahoma Center for the Advancement of Science and Technology (OCAST).

Three OSU-Tulsa faculty were recognized for exceptional teaching and research during faculty and staff meetings early this week.
Dr. Claudia Maldonado-Otto, clinical assistant professor of teaching, learning and educational sciences, received the 2018 President’s Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching. Dr. Hongyu Wang, program coordinator and professor of curriculum studies, and Dr. Stacy Takacs, director and associate professor of American studies both were honored with the 2018 President’s Outstanding Faculty Award for Research.

On his first foray outside of the country, OSU-Tulsa doctoral student Blaze Heckert will be a featured speaker at the International Astronautical Congress in Germany Oct. 1-5.
Heckert, who is pursuing a doctorate in materials science and engineering, was selected to discuss his research into improving materials used in aerospace components to better absorb energy and reduce vibration.
