Annie

annie

Hi there! My name is Annie, and I was born at the Tulsa SPCA because my mom was rescued while she was pregnant with me! I was the last of my family to be adopted so I was getting a little lonely. Thankfully my now adoptive parents discovered me when I was 3 months old and I’m living my best life! The shelter staff named me Maria when I was born but my new family changed my name to Annie they said because my hair is strawberry blond and I have freckles on my nose and belly! I’m 1 ½ years old and I love everything and everyone. I am a wonderful blend of Boxer, American Pit Bull Terrier, Australian Cattle Dog, and Boston Terrier to name a few. I am very patient, smart, and funny! My parents are absolute dog lovers, and all their friends are too so I’ve made so many friends! I love splashing around on the steps of our swimming pool but my most favorite thing to do is chase bunnies and squirrels. I am learning so much in school and I cannot wait to spend time getting to know my OSU family!

Atticus

Atticus

Hi, my name is Atticus, but the call me Atti. I love keeping busy and meeting new people. Many people mistake me for a Doodle but I am a Portuguese Water Dog. “Porties” were originally bred to help fisherman on the coast of Portugal by herding fish, communicating between boats, and retrieving tackle. Advances in fishing put us out of a job, but we are still used for water rescue. Despite the original breed intentions, I do not like to swim! I do love to wake up the teenagers who live with me, with a leap on the bed and a wet kiss every morning.

There are several famous people who have Porties, including the Obama family (remember Bo and Sunny?) and Mike Gundy (Kensie). I have been with my family since I was a puppy, and I was born in Dallas, Texas. I enjoy going on family trips and have been on many hiking and camping adventures in Colorado. I love to be petted, and have a very soft coat that does not shed. Depending on the season, I either have lots of black curls or a shorter wavy coat. When my hair is longer, the white fur on my chest forms a heart. I have a big heart for sure!

Boone

boone

My name is Boone, and I am an English Cream Golden Retriever. When people see me, they sometimes don't know that I am a Golden Retriever because of my light fur color. My birthday is May 5, 2016.

I was born in Russellville, Arkansas at ArkGold (Heart of Gold) Retrievers. I was adopted by Kathy and Monty Curry when I was just 9 weeks old. They fell in love with me at first sight, and they say that I look like my dad. His name is Titus with a Heart of Gold, so they named me Boone with a Heart of Gold. That name is really long, so I just go by "Boone."

They chose me because I was so sweet and cuddly when I was little. They said that my breeder recognized that I would be a good therapy dog even when I was still a little puppy. I LOVE people and other animals. I even have a friend who is a cat, and I love to play with her (except when she scratches!) I have a box full of toys at my house, and I leave them scattered all over the floor. My mom says that she feels like she has a toddler at home because she has to pick up my toys every night! I'm working on that and have even learned to put a few toys back in the box when I am told (but mostly, I get them back out when Mom puts them away!)

I received my Canine Good Citizen certification in March 2018, and I will be registered with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs in April. My mom teaches in the Educational Leadership program at OSU. Her classes are on the Tulsa, OKC and Stillwater campuses, so I know you will see me around!

Cannoli

cannoli

Hi! My name is Cannoli and I am a super tiny brindle Dachshund. I was born on September 9, 2013 in Purcell, OK; eight weeks later I moved in with my human mom and dad and I’ve been there ever since! Both of my human parents graduated from OSU so I am a Cowboy through and through- Go Pokes! I have two Dachshund brothers and a Dachshund sister but they aren’t interested in being in Pete’s Pet Posse. My favorite things are sleeping, eating, and making new friends. I loved the Pet Posse training and can’t wait to begin working at the OSU-COM Cherokee Nation campus in Tahlequah! Come by and visit me anytime- I will be in Dr. Jones’ office.

Delilah

Delilah

Hi there, my name is Delilah Baby Donut (what can I say, my three human siblings named me). You can call me Dede or Lilah for short.

I'm almost 2 years old, and my family adopted me from the Humane Society of Tulsa when I was just 8 weeks old. The rescue guessed I was a "chihuahua terrier mix" but we don't really know for sure. I looked like a baby chihuahua when I was little but as I grew my legs just got longer and longer!

Whatever breed mix I am, I can tell you I am 100% sassy. I've been told I sometimes act more like a cat than a dog with my independent personality. I can be a little anxious and shy at first, but I love meeting people and exploring new places. My favorite hobbies are chasing squirrels, napping under soft blankets and going on car rides with my people. I also love my two dog brothers, and I often get the zoomies and chase them all around the house and yard.

I'm excited to be a part of the Cowboys family! I can't wait to spend time at OSU-Tulsa and take naps in my mom's office in North Hall. Come see me; I'll love you forever if you give me a treat!

Draco

draco

My name is Draco Sloan and I am a dachshund. I was born in 2015. My mom calls me Golden Boy. I don’t mind my dad very well, so he just calls me Draco. Even though my name makes it seem like I belong in Slytherin House, I’m really more of a Hufflepuff because of my loyalty. Is it ironic that my favorite snack is cut-up hot dogs?

What’s my story? Mom and dad adopted me when I was three from Lowrider Dachshund Rescue. Mom had dragged dad to an adoption event hosted by the rescue. Before entering, dad told mom "we absolutely are not getting another dog." My dad saw me sitting all by myself, and I had my best “sad face” on that day. Mom and dad called the rescue about a meeting date and I was adopted that very day!

I have two weenie dog sisters, but they are old and don’t like to play with me. I spend my time watching and chasing birds and squirrels. I love to ride in the car, and mom and dad proudly display my nose art on the windows of their cars.

I passed my Canine Good Citizen test in December 2022, and completed my Alliance of Therapy Dogs test in January 2023. My mom’s name is “Draco’s Mom” and she teaches at OSU-CHS. I’m so excited to be part of Pete’s Pet Posse and I hope I can help you have the best day ever.

Gus

gus

Hi! My name is Augustus, but you can call me ‘Gus.’ I am a two-year old Fawn Pug. You will know me by my flat face and curly tail. I was born just down the highway from OSU-Tulsa at Rankin Veterinary Hospital in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. My mommy and daddy brought me home at 8 weeks old and I made myself at home after a pug-nap and some dinner. They sure figured out the key to my happiness early on!

Both my mommy and daddy graduated from OSU, so I have been a Cowboy from day one! I am my mommy’s baby, but I love all my humans. Especially when they carry me around or let me sleep on their laps! I also love nappies and snackies, going to the vet, puppuccinos from Starbucks, eating ice (especially soft ice), chest rubs, watching TV, playing with toys, and meeting people. My favorite toys are my ‘Mel’ the pug toy from the movie Secret Life of Pets, my pug-sized Lamb-Chop and my PetSafe stick. There is not a treat that I don’t like and will try to eat just about anything, but my favorite treats are peanut butter and bananas!

I am excited to bring love and happiness to my fellow Cowboys as a member of Pete’s Pet Posse Tulsa!

I received my Canine Good Citizen certification in March 2018, and I have been a registered therapy dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs, Inc. since March 2018. You can find me on the 2nd floor of the Administration Building at OSU-Tulsa.

Hank

hank

Osiyo (hello) My name is Hank the Cowdog but sometimes my mom calls me “Hankers.” I’m the third canine in the family with Rebel and Mack and I have two feline siblings, Rumchata and Oogie Boogie. My mom saw my fuzzy puppy head perking up in the Atwoods parking lot in December 2021 and couldn’t resist! We all live in Tahlequah on the Cherokee Nation Reservation.

I am a social butterfly who loves to meet everyone and have a good play, even to Rebel’s chagrin. I haven’t quite got fetch down but keep away is one of my favorite games. Any and all treats are accepted and welcomed. I love being goofy to make my mom laugh with my floppy ears. If there is a body of water, you will probably find me in it for a good dip and biting the water.

My mom taught me how to be a good “Poke” and I can’t wait to get all the pets from my fellow cowfolks!

I can be found on the third floor of the Cherokee Nation campus with my mom in Faculty Hall.

Harley

Harley

Hello! My name is Harley Quinn, but all my friends call me Harley. I am the best friend you haven’t met yet. I am a red merle Australian Shepard and my parents got me at 12-weeks old in March of 2016. I started my young life living in Stillwater while my parents went to OSU. I have very fond puppy memories of playing catch on Library Lawn.

I love spending time outside chasing my ball, sunbathing as my parents’ work in the garden, and sticking my head out the window while riding in the car. When I am not outside, I enjoy long naps on the couch and sometimes my parents’ bed. My parents say I’ve yet to meet a pillow that I don’t like. I also enjoy playing with my toys and cuddling with my mom. My favorite holiday is New Year’s Day because it’s my birthday and I love celebrating with all my family and friends.

I love belly rubs and if you see me on campus, I might roll over and ask you to scratch my belly. I’m a true foodie and enjoy eating most everything, though snacks are my favorite. I love to be around people and make them smile. I am so excited to be able to work at CHS and make new friends.

Jackson

jackson

My name is Jackson and I am a F1B Mini Goldendoodle. My Mom says that I forgot I was supposed to be a mini, oh well, she still loves me! My birthday is January 5, 2019. I was born just outside of Joplin, Missouri at ‘McDoodles Home Grown Puppies.’ My Mom picked me up when I was 10 weeks old and spoiled me from the very first day. We started puppy classes a few weeks later and I have made a lot of friends at ‘K-9 Manners & More’. I love going to training class because I get to see my friends and I get a LOT of treats. My Mom kept talking about ‘Pete’s Pet Posse’….I didn’t know what it meant except if I was good (I would get more treats) and would get to go to work with her!

I love playing with the kids that come to our house, swimming in the pool, going on walks and going camping. I really love about anything I get to do with my Mom. My Mom works at OSU-CHS in Academic Affairs and in the Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Department, so I can be found in the Felmlee and Tandy Buildings.

Leia

leia

General Leia Organa is a chocolate Labrador retriever. She was born on Thanksgiving in 2017 and often gets called by her nickname, "Turkey." Leia loves to spend time with her people, especially her human cousins. She also likes hanging out with her canine friends, Scout and Rosie. She enjoys hiking, kayaking, and swimming, but her favorite thing to do is dock diving. She has earned her Dock Senior Advanced and Dock Master titles, and her personal best jump is 21'6". She even earned an invitation to the National Showcase in 2021! Eating comes in a close second for favorite activities (she is a Lab, after all). She even gets to visit a dog treat bakery when she is an extra good girl. Leia's favorite toy is a squeaky Jabba the Hutt, so please do not tell her how Jabba the Hutt met his end on Star Wars. She earned her Canine Good Citizen certification way back in 2019 and has enjoyed brushing up on her skills so she can be part of Pete's Pet Posse!

Lily

Lilly

Lilly Webb is a golden retriever, five years old, and considered our furry daughter.

Lilly came into our lives as we were moving from Northwest Arkansas to Tulsa. She was just six months old when she went on a house hunting trip with us. We found a house we loved, but agreed the yard was too big for us to want to take care of. We were trying to downsize in all things. But, she followed Tim into the backyard and we were sold. She bounded across the yard, dipped her toes into the pool (we had sworn, NO POOL, but….), and chased her first squirrel up a tree. Since that time we have made a lot of decisions in our life around how does that impact Lilly? Christmas with our daughters? Find an AirBnB in the location we want that accepts dogs. 10 hour drive to see the human daughters? Make sure the back seat is free and clear and comfortable for Lilly. Stop frequently to meet her needs, no one else. No one in the family complains about this. She is a joy always and makes every trip better. She is a great guest, never chews on things, asks to go out when it is necessary, stays down until she is invited up and always always puts a smile on everyone’s face. We love introducing Lilly to new people to see how easily she wins them over and makes their faces shine with smiles. She has a quirky smile she offers when its time to play ball or maybe it’s snack time. She is a part of our family and we all love her.

Lucy

Lucy

Lucy Sumner is a 5 year old Black Labrador. Lucy joined her handlers Amanda and Phillip after landing at Lab Rescue in 2010. She and her sister Ethel were dumped near Yale, OK and taken in by a family who lives nearby. Lucy was a handful and was always getting into trouble with Ethel, so the family decided to try to find homes for them. Lucy is a cuddle monster. She is very energetic and loves chasing her tennis ball, but she is just as content to lay in your lap (all 70 pounds of her) for a belly rub. She loves people and prefers to be cuddled up with a human 24/7. Lucy likes walks, swimming, drinking water (especially from sprinklers), cuddles, and chasing her tennis ball. Lucy looks forward to it being her job to be petted, and getting out of the house during the day. Lucy’s handlers are Amanda Sumner, Registrar at OSU-CHS and her husband Phillip.

Maggie

maggie

I’m Maggie May, but most people call me Maggie, or as my mama likes to say, “Mags the Glad.” I’m a nearly two-year-old boxer/shepherd mix who’s easy to spot by my naturally stubby tail and giant bat ears. My daddy says I never grew into them, but they make people laugh so I’m glad I didn’t! I love to run around our property with my five doggy sisters and our big lug of a Golden Pyrenees brother, and I even watch over my kitty brothers and sister when they get to come outside.

I enjoy lying in the sun and looking out over the lake below our home. My people found me near this lake as they were about to go kayaking one late summer day in 2016. As I watched them take things from their car, I knew they were my last hope. At two months old, wounded from an attack and starving, I worked up my courage and what little strength I had and walked toward them. Once they saw me, they put me in the car and I rode in my mama’s lap to the vet. I don’t remember if I was dumped or if I was born there and am the only surviving member of my pack. All I know is my people saved me, and I adore them for it.

Because of my experience, nothing makes me happier than making people happy, although I do love fig bars and playing in the water! I received my Canine Good Citizen and Alliance of Therapy Dog certification in March 2018 and look forward to lots of belly rubs. Because I’m a born and bred rural Okie, I’m especially excited to be part of the Center for Rural Health.

Obi-Wan

obi-wan

My name is Obi Wan, but you can call me Obi. According to DNA tests, I am Chihuahua, Miniature Pinscher, Lhasa Apso, and 37% Jedi. Born in September 2017, I was adopted at just 4 months old from a cat rescue that saved me from a hoarder. It’s no surprise that someone couldn’t give this up!

I am all scruff with big brown eyes and some killer dance moves. I love treats, making new friends, tap dancing, car rides, hiking, your sandals, running in circles with a carrot, and howling/singing with you if you hit the pitch just right. I also love to hang out and learn new things like Nosework, Rally, and Obedience at Tulsa Dog Training Club. Mom thinks I can bring home ribbons. I’m just trying to Jedi mind-trick her out of some cookies (Psst…It’s working).

When I am not out on the town or learning new things, you can find me in the Graduate Medical Education wing of the OSU Medical Center. I am very excited to hang out with the residents there and bring them some happiness during their 12-hour shifts. I am ready for my new position as Obi Wan, DO – Resident Wellness Pawsician!

Ruffy

ruffy

Howdy, Partner! I was named Walter Ruffington, but all my new friends at OSU CHS can call me Ruffy! I’m a 2-year-old herding/retriever mix, but there’s no doubt I’m 100% Good Boy! I mean, Mom tells me so ALL the time. My parents found me at their ranch in Webbers Falls at 12 weeks old in January 2021. Those big ‘ol cows were scary, but Dad scooped me up, told Mom he wanted me, and named me Ruffy. How could she say no?!

Since being rescued, I’ve been adventuring! I love to lead the way on any hiking trail I can go on. Mom and Dad take lots of breaks, but I always stay close and encourage them to hurry up. I also love to help steer our canoe down the Illinois River on the hottest summer days. My favorite time is when I dry off in the truck going down the highway, cool wind in my fur! When I’m not out and about, I love to watch nature shows on TV and put the household on alert when my Amazon Prime friends ring the doorbell to deliver toys and treats to me.

All my family and friends said I have such a good temperament that I should put my skills to good use. I was so happy when Mom told me I was going to be a Cowboy! I can’t wait to make the Research Office my home base and have everyone share their snacks with me. Hint: My favorite snack is your Pop-tart crusts; Cherry or Brown Sugar Cinnamon, please. I made Mom work extra hard in preparing me for my Canine Good Citizen certification. She thought it would be impawsible, but I encouraged her to dream as big as the sky!

Sophie

sophie

Sophie is a happy 5 year old Shepard/lab mix that is always on the go. She was adopted from an animal shelter in January of 2017 and hasn’t looked back. She immediately became part of our family and is living her best life. She loves all the treats, going on long walks, and exploring new places. She lives in Jenks and likes to spend time at the Cattle barn with her human brother and his show calf. On the weekends you can find her walking at different parks with her best friend Dually and their pack of German Shepard friends. She likes to attend dog friendly activities hosted around the Tulsa area when she has time. She is very friendly and loves to interact with other people and dogs. She is a Daddy’s girl and enjoys accompanying him to the office whenever she has the chance. At home, she’s never too far

from her stuffed animals and carries them around the house and yard. She is typically very quiet, like her mom, but isn’t afraid to use her voice if needed. She always lets us know when Amazon arrives and inspects every package for dog cookies and toys. Sophie enjoys going to school so much and is excited to spend more time with students, faculty, and staff. She plans to use this opportunity to get to know and help others at the OSU CHS campus.
