Ellis Walker Woods Memorial
A labor of love
The Ellis Walker Woods Memorial honors the first principal of Tulsa's Booker T. Washington
High School. A labor of love for more than 30 years, the conception, fundraising and
construction of the memorial was guided by a dedicated committee of BTW alumni and
supporters.
The memorial is located at the intersection of Greenwood Ave. and John Hope Franklin
Blvd. on the OSU-Tulsa campus. It was dedicated on Aug. 16, 2019 and at that time
was entrusted to OSU-Tulsa to care for and maintain.
Also located at OSU-Tulsa is a historical marker commemorating the original location of Booker T. Washington High School.
Visiting the memorial
The memorial is open to the public. Parking at OSU-Tulsa is free for visitors.
Please park in Lot A or Lot B to visit the memorial; the driveway near the memorial
is a delivery entrance that cannot be blocked.
