Record-breaking Community Back to School Bash brings supplies and smiles to Tulsa-area families
Friday, August 8, 2025
Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is celebrating the resounding success of its fifth annual Community Back to School Bash, which drew a record crowd and surpassed previous years in both attendance and supplies distributed.
Held on Aug. 5, the event welcomed more than 1,600 attendees and distributed 1,200 backpacks filled with free school supplies to local students in grades Pre-K through 12, marking a new milestone for the growing community celebration.
This year’s bash featured 45 community organizations, including free immunizations from the Tulsa Health Department, and opportunities for families to connect with representatives from OSU-Tulsa Police, Tulsa Police Department, EMSA, Tulsa Fire Department and the City of Tulsa Water and Sewer Department.
The event wasn’t just a supply drive, but a true party. Families enjoyed live entertainment from local school bands, dance groups and youth organizations in parking Lot C, and got a chance to meet with first responders and check out their emergency vehicles to celebrate a return to school within a fun, welcoming atmosphere on the OSU-Tulsa campus.
OSU-Tulsa Community Engagement extends heartfelt thanks to the wealth of volunteers and community partners who made this event possible, especially community sponsors Chase Bank, ONE Gas and Tinker Federal Credit Union.
