Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is offering creative professionals more tools to advance their careers or find new opportunities with the addition of several for-credit Entertainment Media courses on subjects including The World of Entertainment Media, Storytelling Across Screens, Graphic Design for Entertainment Media and Screenwriting.

These Tulsa-exclusive courses from the College of Professional Studies at OSU-Tulsa begin on Aug. 19, with most of the classes offered as eight-week hybrid courses. The format of these classes is designed to fit the needs of working adults and feature hands-on learning components that give students skills they can take back to their careers immediately.

The course content is ideal for those seeking to build or advance careers in filmmaking, television production, digital storytelling, public relations, advertising, brand management or related roles in the entertainment industry.

“More film and television projects are coming to Oklahoma, in addition to new and expanding cultural attractions with digital exhibits. These industries need skilled professionals,” said Zach Litwack, interim director of the Entertainment Media programming at OSU-Tulsa. “Knowing how to tell a compelling story is crucial for these industries, or any marketing, communications or creative career field.”

Litwack is an Oklahoma filmmaker credited with 12 Heartland chapter Emmy awards. He is known for his work on the PBS television series “Osiyo, Voices of the Cherokee People,” as well as short films including “I’m Taking You Home” and “The Gentleman.” He has also served as OSU-Tulsa’s Filmmaker in Residence since 2019, bringing hands-on film education workshops to campus to teach film set etiquette, screenwriting, lighting and more.

“We recognize the demand for skilled professionals to fuel these local creative industries, and we’re looking forward to bringing more Entertainment Media programming to OSU-Tulsa in the near future,” Litwack said.
