Oklahoma State University-Tulsa is hosting a free virtual bilingual informational event, “Ir a la universidad - ¡Sí Se Puede!” on April 24 from 6 - 7:30 p.m. The event is tailored to Tulsa’s Hispanic community to answer questions and provide details about services, assistance and experiences related to attending college.

 

The online event, which is offered in Spanish and English, is aimed toward high school students and their families – but the information, advice and stories are relevant to anyone considering attending a university.Registration for the event is required.

 

“I am excited to be part of this important event again this year,” said Moises Echeverria, president and CEO of the Foundation for Tulsa Schools and the moderator for this year’s event. Echeverria, an OSU-Tulsa alumnus, was the first in his family to earn a college degree.

 

“Every year I’ve participated I’ve been inspired by the determination and desire of the families in attendance wanting to learn everything they can to ensure their student continues their education. Obtaining an undergraduate and master’s degree has opened many doors of opportunity for me and I know that it will do the same for those who work hard to achieve their dreams.”

 

The 2024 “¡Sí Se Puede!” event is comprised of three topics, including Hispanic students and graduates discussing their experiences, local Hispanic professionals speaking on how college has benefited them and a section where representatives from TCC and OSU share advice for the first steps in college enrollment.

 

OSU-Tulsa has been hosting “¡Sí Se Puede!” events since 2018.

“¡Sí Se Puede!” evento ofrece foro bilingüe para responder preguntas universitarias

 

La Universidad Estatal de Oklahoma-Tulsa está organizando un evento informativo virtual que será gratis y ofrecido en inglés y en español el 24 de abril de la 6 a 7:30 p.m. Este evento, llamado “Ir a la universidad – ¡Sí Se Puede!”, estará diseñado para la comunidad hispana de Tulsa para contestar sus preguntas y brindar detalles sobre los servicios, asistencia y experiencias relacionadas con asistir al colegio.

 

El evento en línea será dirigido a estudiantes de secundaria y sus familias, pero la información, los consejos y las historias serán relevantes para cualquier persona que está considerando ir a la universidad. Es necesario registrarse para el evento.

 

“Un título universitario me abrió tantas puertas de oportunidad que ni sabía que existían,” dijo Moises Echeverria, presidente y director ejecutivo de la Fundación para las Escuelas de Tulsa y moderador del evento de este año. Echeverria, un ex alumno de OSU-Tulsa, fue el primero en su familia en obtener un título universitario.

 

“Espero poder hablar con las familias y los estudiantes sobre la importancia de completar una educación universitaria y darles información que me hubiera gustado saber cuando yo era estudiante.”

 

El evento “¡Sí Se Puede!” 2024 tendrá tres temas que incluirán conversaciones sobre las experiencias de estudiantes y graduados hispanos, historias de profesionales hispanos locales sobre como la universidad los ha beneficiado un sus carreras, y una sección donde representantes de TCC y OSU compartirán consejos sobre los primeros pasos para inscribirse en la universidad.

 

OSU-Tulsa ha estado presentando el evento “¡Sí Se Puede!” desde el año 2018.
