About Our Services

The Al Carlozzi Center for Counseling provides a variety of services to OSU students, faculty, and staff, as well as community members in Tulsa and the surrounding areas. Services are provided on a short-term basis by Master’s and doctoral students in the Counseling and Counseling Psychology programs at Oklahoma State University. 


Individual Counseling

The Al Carlozzi Center for Counseling provides short-term individual counseling. You and your Counselor will discuss the actual number of sessions necessary to address your concerns. In general, services are limited to 10-12 sessions, though exceptions can be made when the need arises. Individual counseling sessions are usually scheduled weekly and last for 50 minutes at a time.

 

Individual counseling can focus on any number of concerns. Some common topics addressed in therapy are:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Relationship concerns

  • Anger

  • Low self-esteem

  • Grief

  • Suicidal thoughts

  • Career concerns

  • Identity concerns

  • Situational stress

  • Gender identity

  • Sexuality

 

The Al Carlozzi Center for Counseling is committed to serving all members of our community with affirming, knowledgeable services. In particular, our counselors have received training in providing affirming care to trans folx, including addressing considerations related to transitioning (e.g., writing letters for surgery).

 

Relationship Counseling

Counseling services are available for all forms of relationships. In particular, our counselors have received training on providing knowledgeable and affirming counseling to those in consensually non-monogamous relationships.

 

Relationship counseling can focus on any number of concerns. Some common topics addressed in therapy are:

  • Financial concerns

  • Premarital counseling

  • Affairs and betrayal

  • Communication

  • Transition to parenthood

  • Sexual concerns

 

Group Counseling

The Al Carlozzi Center for Counseling provides ongoing and one-time group counseling services. Please contact the center for a current list of available groups and workshops.


Assessment

We provide limited assessment services to children and adults. Available assessments include ADHD assessment batteries for children and adults as well as personality assessment for adults.

 

Referral to a Community Agency

Because we are a training clinic and offer primarily short-term counseling, we provide referral information for appropriate community resources to students whose needs are beyond the scope of the services we offer. Please call us to get information about community counseling services.

 

Medication

The Al Carlozzi Center for Counseling does not provide medication and/or psychiatry services. When appropriate, you may be referred to a to a community provider for medication and consultation. You will be responsible for arranging to pay the cost of any prescribed medication or off-campus services.
